Server log files

When you open this site your browser automatically sends data that the host records in log files: IP address, date and time, the page requested, referrer, browser type and operating system. This is technically necessary to run the site securely, it is not combined with other sources, and it is deleted after 30 days at the latest. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Who receives your data

Transfers outside the EU

Where a recipient above is based outside the EU, the transfer relies on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. The United States does not offer a level of data protection equivalent to EU law; in particular, access by US authorities cannot be entirely ruled out.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies of its own. The language you are reading is in the address (/de/… for German) and is not stored anywhere. If you set the display to light or dark, that choice is kept in your browser’s local storage so it survives the next visit; it never leaves your device, and it is removed as soon as you switch back to the system setting. No tracking services are embedded and no profiles are built. The booking calendar is delivered by Cal.com in an embedded frame, which may set cookies that are technically necessary on their side.

Getting in touch

If you contact me through the contact form, by email or by messenger, I process what you send in order to answer, and for follow-up questions. The form stores nothing: your message is forwarded to me as email and then sits in my mailbox, not in a database on this site. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. I delete this once it is no longer needed, and review that at least every two years.

The enquiry assistant on /services

On the services page you can describe your problem in a text box. That text is passed to a language model running on my own infrastructure, which matches the enquiry to an area of work and drafts a summary. The text does not leave my infrastructure: it is not sent to any AI provider, there is no transfer outside the EU, and it is not used for training. Nothing is stored unless you press “Send it to Robert”. If you do send it, I store it in order to answer; the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. You can skip the assistant entirely and book a call or email me instead.

Whatever you type into the assistant stays in your browser until you send it. Nothing is cached: reload or close the page and the summary, the selection and any pasted script are gone. A script you paste for the complexity estimate is analysed entirely inside your browser and never reaches my server at all; it is transmitted and stored only if you explicitly tick the box to send it. In that case I keep it until the project closes, and at most 90 days — whichever comes first. After that only the counted figures remain.

Files you attach to an enquiry (specifications, screenshots) are handled differently from a pasted script: they are uploaded to my server as soon as you choose them, because that is where the type and size are checked, and for documents (PDF, DOCX, ODT) the contents as well, by a virus scanner running on that same server. They are stored outside the web directory and are reachable over the internet only with your project link, or by me once logged in. If you do not send the enquiry I delete the file after 24 hours; otherwise I keep it with the enquiry and delete it 90 days after the project closes. You can remove a file at any time before sending, and it is deleted immediately.

After sending you get a permanent link to a project page (/project/…), showing your own enquiry, where it stands and any open questions. The link contains a random string and is reachable only through it, and the page is not indexed by search engines. Anyone holding the link can see the page, so pass it on only if you mean to. I keep the enquiry for the life of the project and delete it 90 days after it closes.

You may complain to a data protection authority. The competent one here is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA), Promenade 27, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
